opah sakit

isk isk
opah is in hospital
she had a mild stroke
on the surface she looks much better as compared to the past one week :)
alhamdulliah boleh talk and can eat
but still needs to be observered.

anyways, what i want to highlight here is our (especially me) ignorance!
the sign was all there - the numbness, slurring, sakit kepala....

actually she had a fall on thursday, got admitted to emergency room @hospital sungai buloh (we actually preferred hospital selayang but they said sg buloh is nearer for the ambulance). after they did some checking opah later got discharged in the afternoon lepas doktor said no problem. they didnt even bother to tell or brief me of anything. just simply get one of the nurses to tell "dah boleh discharge skarang". when asked tak boleh warded ke for observation, straight away said katil penuh. wat an ass. gave opah panadols and some pills to get her swelling subside (she fell flat on the face).

so in between friday, saturday and sunday - opah on/off kejap ok kejap tak ok. once bagi makan she'll be ok (can walk with help to the bathroom). bile tak ok - she'll be like very weak and tak larat makan and even go to the bathroom. in between ada at parts she was talking nonsense yg tak difahami (so we thought)

fast forward to sunday.

noon - she said her mouth is kebas and badan sakit. but i brushed it off saying it was because she chewed on the plum too long (well she was chewing lama sbb susah nk lumat). by sleep time, she seems OK. then at 3am she called me cakap lapar and wanted rice. Masa ni nampak fragile. but she still managed to makan insisted nk suap sendiri and bangun untuk pegi toilet. then at 530 she woke me up again. panggil. and i asked kenapa (from my bed - bilik dekat and my door is always ajar), she said "saja". but i woke up anyways. when asked asked again, she was slurring, but she kept on repeating the same sentence yang tak difahami. i went back to bed tapi still rasa tak sedap so i went back and asked again - she slurred some more mcm berborak eventually i pun pegi tidur baliklah.

ina came and woke me up at 630am.
masa ni opah was sleeping soundly sampai kejut pun taknak bangun.
yes, she was breathing and siap berdengkur softly and rasanya ada at one point dia even menguap. by the time we went off to work at 8am, still opah mcm tidur nyenyak. we tried a few times, but we didnt use any force to wake up her up and just left the food at her side.

leman came back to check on her around noon and still opah was sleeping.
paniced and decided to get a house call doctor. doctor juliet from poliklinik gomez kota damansara came with a nurse. advised to bring to the hospital and helped bringing opah to the car and also called to check with the hospital.

we rushed straight to hospital selayang from the office.
by that time opah is already awake and talking. her sugar level was very very low masa sampai isk isk. but when i checked witht he doctor, she said warded or not still depends on the brainscan result. they did suspected stroke. since the result is between 2-4 hours we headed back to get stuff in case opah admitted.

by the time sampai hospital, opah was already sent to the ward and doctor confirmed she had a mid stroke.

as of last night she sounds much much better. can talk and eat and nampak sgt restless hehe.
this morning we called pun she was asking apsal tak sampai lagi isk isk cucu opah kerja :(
we'll be checking on her after work.

hopefully she recovers fast and insyaAllah dipanjangkan umurnya lagi hingga ke anak cicit :)) aamin.

NOW DO TAKE SOMETIME TO READ AND TAKE WHATEVER NOTES ON STROKE, THE SYMPTOM & WHAT TO DO

some of the info taken from the above site:

Five major signs of stroke:
  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body. The loss of voluntary movement and/or sensation may be complete or partial. There may also be an associated tingling sensation in the affected area.
  • Sudden confusion or trouble speaking or understanding. Sometimes weakness in the muscles of the face can cause drooling.
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
  • Sudden, severe headache with no known cause

Three commands may be used to assess whether a person may be experiencing a stroke. Lay persons can command a potential stroke victim to:

  • Smile
  • Raise both arms
  • Speak a simple sentence
